Using your data from the Mini Cellular Respiration Lab create a graph that represents the data from one of the tables.

Remember parts of a graph

  • Label both axis with appropriate titles of variables

  • Set an appropraite scale for both axis

  • Plot data according to your data table

  • Use a key if necessary

  • Create a title that tells you what your graph is about

Semi-Pro

Let's warm up our minds. Answer the following questions based on the AIM without using internet resources.

Aim: How do plant cells benefit from an exchange of substances in and out the cell?

  1. Why is it important to exchange substances in and out the plant cell?

  2. How do plant cells use the substances that enter the cell?

  3. How can we investigate factors that affects the plant cells ability to survive?

The following video discusses Photosynthesis. This biochemical process occur in all Plants.

Log onto BrainPop and watch the Photosynthesis video.

Answer the following questions to complete your notes on Cellular Respiration.

  1. What is photosynthesis?

  2. What substances are necessary for photosynthesis?

  3. What are the end products of photosynthesis?

  4. How does the chloroplast carry out the process of photosynthesis?

  5. How does photosynthesis in plants affect respiration in humans?

  6. Using EVIDENCE from the video provide an ANALYSIS for the AIM. (How do plant cells benefit from an exchange of substances in and out the cell?)

Day 2 / 3

The cells of some organisms contain both chloroplasts and mitochondria. Which statement describes what would happen in these cells if they were moved from a light environment to a dark one?

(1) The amount of oxygen present would decrease and the amount of carbon dioxide would increase.

(2) The amount of glucose present would increase and ATP would no longer be available.

(3) The amount of carbon dioxide present would decrease and ATP would continue to be synthesized.

(4) The amount of oxygen present would increase and the amount of glucose available would decrease.

Answer choice 3 is incorrect because ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

The equations represent two biochemical processes that occur in living organisms. The letter X represents a molecule produced from process 1

Process 1: oxygen + glucose → carbon dioxide + water + X

Process 2: carbon dioxide + water → oxygen + glucose

Identify the molecule represented by letter X in process 1. ___________________________

Which process occurs in the cells of a green plant leaf?

(1) process 1, only                                       (2) process 2, only

(3) neither process 1 nor process 2                 (4) both process 1 and process 2

As scientist, part of your job is to do research on experiments that have been conducted already based on your topic of interest. You are to research and write a mini-proposal describing how you would invesigate the factors that affect cellular respiration. Create a presentation that shows how you would investigate factors that affect cellular respiration.  In your presentation include the following:

  • Identify the variables of the experiment you would conduct? Independent variable, dependent variable, constants

  • Summarize the procedures you would take to conduct this experiment? (How would it work? What would you do?)

  • Hypothesize the effects of the variables in this experiment. (if… then…)

Here is a template of what your pesentation should look like using google presntations. [Click template for access].  You are not limited to the use of google presentation. You can use Prezi or any other presentation app to present your ideas.

Use the following search prompts to find information:

  • experiments on photosynthesis

  • photosynthesis labs

  • photosynthesis investigation

Lastly, You must create 3 questions that your peers should be able to answer based on your presentation. Include the answers to your questions. Fill out this FORM to submit your questions and answers.

You will be required to present your research to your classmates. You can create a video of your presentation and submit it! Use these links to record your video:
