Design an experiment in which you would determine how enzymes like salivary amylase found in saliva work to chemically digest food in the body. Your design will require you to use the following materials: crackers, a human subject, glucose indicator solution, test tubes, pipettes, a mortar and pestle, and a hot water bath (boiling hot water in a beaker). In your design be sure to answer the following questions:

• Identify the Independent and Dependent variables of the experiment.

• State an appropriate hypothesis for the experiment.

• Identify the conditions of the control and experimental groups of the experiment.

• Describe the procedures of the experiment. Each material should be mentioned in the procedure.
